Getting Started on a new Remote Desktop Server

Alfred Chan Updated by Alfred Chan

This guide applies to any new customers onboarding to Cloud Collective's hosted remote desktop environment and assumes that your server has already been built and your project manager has instructed you to start testing.

How to log on

Before Starting

Your account manager should've already sent you a link to this page as well as a .RDP file to connect, please make sure you have this before starting.

Windows
  1. Save that RDP file to your desktop and double click it to run it
  2. Log in using the credentials as instructed by your project manager
    1. NOTE: if you get prompted by any security prompts, click yes or don't remind me again.

Mac

If you're connecting from a Mac computer, follow the instructions in our Mac Remote Desktop guide

Testing Tips

  • Check that all the applications required to do your work are installed
  • Check that all your data is present
    • Sometimes your files might not be migrated till your go-live date but your project manager will let you know in advance what should be there
  • Try your apps and make sure the functionality you need is working
  • How's the performance?
