Alfred Chan Updated by Alfred Chan

If you ever need to change your password while in a remote connection, follow these steps.

  1. Connect to the remote computer / server via Remote Desktop
  2. Depending on the operating system of the computer you're connecting from you'll need to:
    1. Windows: press Ctrl + Alt + End
    2. Mac: fn + ctrl + alt + right arrow
  3. This will bring up a menu similar to the one below, press "Change a password"
  4. Enter in your old password and a new password twice. Press Enter on your keyboard to submit changes.
    1. Note: depending on your organization you may have complexity and length requirements. Generally they require a minimum of 8 characters and three of these types of characters: lower case, upper case, punctuation or numbers
